Chaudhry Parvez Elahi, a former chief minister of Punjab and central president of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), was released from Kot Lakhpat Jail on Tuesday after the Lahore High Court (LHC) decided to give him bail in an illegal recruiting case.
Elahi’s attorney, Amir Saeed Rawn, pleaded for his release during the hearing before the LHC earlier in the day, which was presided over by Justice Sultan Tanvir Ahmad.
Insisting that Elahi had not taken bribes or participated in the hiring process, Rawn emphasized that the anti-corruption authority had postponed filing the case for two years.
Additionally, Rawn charged that during a raid at Elahi’s home, the Anti-Corruption Establishment (ACE) Punjab had planted fake evidence.
