The majority of Pakistanis were thrilled on Friday night to learn that the price of gasoline had dropped dramatically, but their happiness was short-lived as they learned the following morning that the decrease had not been as significant as the media had initially said.
Confusion started to arise when the Prime Minister’s Office declared a significant decrease in the cost of petroleum products, with a fall in the price of gasoline of Rs15.4 and diesel of Rs7.9 per litre.
Confusion caused by the PMO statement delayed the notification, which wasn’t released until after midnight.
According to the Ministry of Finance’s announcement, the federal government lowered the price of gasoline in its third straight fortnightly review in response to a drop in the rate of global oil prices.
