The Punjabi government plans to set up specialist polio vaccination stations at the province’s entrance and departure in order to accelerate efforts to eradicate the disease.
This decision was made at a meeting of the provincial task force on polio eradication, which was attended by the provincial ministers Khawaja Salman Rafique and Khawaja Imran Nazir, Chief Secretary Punjab Zahid Akhtar Zaman, and members from other ministries.
In his address to the attendees, Khawaja Salman Rafique declared that during the next campaign to end polio, all provincial ministers would make sure to accompany polio workers on the ground. He declared that different tactics will be employed in each district to combat the disease.
He gave the deputy commissioners and health authorities instructions to identify and remove any barriers standing in the way of achieving the objectives.
The attendees agreed that all Punjabi entry and exit locations will have polio vaccination counters.
At the summit, the officials pledged to utilize all available means to ensure that the province is free of polio and other diseases.
