ISLAMABAD: The Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) canceled its rally in Islamabad on Saturday and filed a motion with the Islamabad High Court (IHC) to hold individuals accountable for the suspension of the no objection certificate (NOC) in this regard for contempt of court.
The former ruling party submitted a petition with the IHC requesting authorization to stage its rally, which it claimed it will hold on Saturday in the Tarnol neighborhood outside the federal capital.
In response, on June 26, Babar Sattar of IHC gave the party and the city’s administration instructions to resolve the matter amicably. The deputy commissioner then gave the PTI permission to hold its demonstration.
But later, citing the start of the month, Islamabad Chief Commissioner Muhammad Ali Randhawa suspended the NOC.
Muharram and security issues in addition to grievances expressed by the community.
In a letter dated July 5, the chief commissioner stated that the police confirmed on Wednesday that they had retrieved a sizable cache of firearms and ammunition.
