In view of the Muharram processions that are scheduled to occur in the nation’s financial center from the eighth to the tenth of Muharram, Karachi Traffic Police has released a thorough traffic diversion plan, as The News reported on Saturday.
Every year, the city has multiple Muharram processions with thousands of mourners. As part of appropriate security precautions, the government and law enforcement agencies devise a comprehensive security plan that includes blocking off multiple routes.
As part of security precautions during the month of Muharram, the Sindh government has banned 143 ulema and zakireen from 13 districts for 60 days in preparation for the Ashura, which falls on July 17, the 10th day of Muharram.
