Emir Hafiz Naeemur Rehman of Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) is leading a sit-in that is showing no signs of ending, and the party has stated that it is prepared to intensify the protests if the government does not comply with its demands.
Hafiz Naeem cautioned the Rawalpindi sit-in crowd that, if needed, the demonstration might last longer than a month.
According to Naeemur Rehman, the purpose of the sit-in is not to further individual interests but rather to restore the rights of the people. “We are here to block the ways of these rulers and take back the people’s rights,” he said.
In an effort to increase the size of the rally, he also said that it will be expanded to D Chowk and the Parliament Houses.
The head of Jamaat-e-Islami criticized how the government handled economic problems, comparing the ruling class to “wolves” that were depleting the nation’s resources.
“These wolves include Independent Power Producers (IPPs) and other entities that exploit our people,” Naeemur Rehman stated, highlighting the necessity of taking action against IPPs and doing away with taxes for the salaried class.
