Imran Khan, the founder of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), stated on Wednesday that he was seeking a conditional apology for the May 9 riots, stating that the CCTV evidence of the violent protests ought to be provided in advance.
Following his detention from the Islamabad High Court in a corruption case, the imprisoned former premier said in a statement that he would apologize if it was discovered that PTI activists were involved in the violent riots that broke out throughout the nation last year.
Attacks on public property, including military sites, were witnessed during the violent protests in various parts of the nation. As a result, the military and civil authorities decided to prosecute the rioters under the Army Act.
The PTI leader has repeatedly distanced his party from the demonstrations, claiming that they were orchestrated in advance to initiate a crackdown on the opposition party.
“I will sack and seek punishment for the PTI members if they were found involved [in the May 9 incidents],” he added.
