Following days of Ukrainian assaults on the city, Vladimir Putin has led Russia’s Victory Day celebrations with a parade in Red Square and increased security.
As Putin reminded thousands of soldiers and over 20 world leaders that Russia recalled the lessons of World War Two, China’s Xi Jinping joined him.
Putin said that Russia as a whole was responsible for the “special military operation,” which is now well into its fourth year, and used his address to link the conflict to today’s full-scale invasion of Ukraine.
Due to their widespread usage in Ukraine, a column of trucks carrying several types of combat drones participated in the Victory Day parade for the first time.
