ISLAMABAD In a rare and extraordinary move, Pakistan’s ambassador to Turkmenistan, K K Wagan, was deported from Los Angeles by the United States, according to diplomatic sources cited by The News this morning.
“K K Wagan, an ambassador, was expelled from the United States. He was deported due to an immigration objection, according to a senior foreign ministry official.
According to sources, Ambassador Wagan, who has a valid US visa and all required travel documentation, was halted by US immigration officials when he arrived in Los Angeles for a personal visit.
Concerns regarding diplomatic procedure and the decision’s nature were raised when the officials had him return to his final port of departure.
