In July 2024, Pakistan’s exports of information technology (IT) increased significantly by 34% to $286 million. When compared to the prior 12-month average of $269 million, this increase represents a significant growth. As of the first month of the fiscal year 2025, 46% of the nation’s total exports are attributed to the IT sector.
Changes in policy, such as raising the cap on special foreign currency accounts for exporters from 35% to 50% and stabilizing the value of the Pakistani rupee, are primarily responsible for the spike in IT exports. The IT industry now has a favorable environment in which to grow its export capacities thanks to these actions.
In the future, it is anticipated that the IT industry will export goods worth more than $3.5 billion in the fiscal year 2025.
