In response to the growing threat of terrorism, Iran has started building a wall along its border with Afghanistan that is 300 kilometers long and 4 meters high.
The decision was made in the wake of the Taliban’s takeover of Afghanistan in 2021, which significantly increased terrorist activity throughout the area, especially in neighboring nations.
Concerns on the resurgence and backing of numerous terrorist groups in Afghanistan, particularly ISIS-K (Islamic State Khorasan Province), have been expressed by Iranian officials.
The Iranian government acted decisively after these groups were connected to multiple attacks on Iranian territory.
The wall, which is projected to cost $3 billion, is a component of Iran’s larger plan to improve security at home by reducing terrorist infiltration and the flow of illegal immigrants and drugs.
