ISLAMABAD: In honor of the 12th Rabi ul Awal Eid Milad un Nabi, the federal government has declared September 17 (Tuesday) to be a public holiday.
The nation will commemorate the birthdate of the Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) on September 17, which falls in the month of Rabi ul Awal in 1446 Hijri, according to an official announcement.
The Islamic month will begin today, September 6, after the Central Ruet-e-Hilal Committee declared on Wednesday that the country had not seen the crescent for Rabi ul Awal.
Following a meeting of the moon sighting committee in Islamabad, which was chaired by Maulana Abdul Khabir Azad, the declaration was made.
“There were no reports of moon sightings, and the committee unanimously decided that Rabi ul Awal will begin on March 1st.
