Hudgell Solicitors’ Neil Hudgell is a lawyer who represents more than forty former sub-postmasters who made use of Capture during the 1990s.
Similar to the Horizon scam, several of people who utilized it contend they were falsely accused of embezzling money from their Post Office branches.
Sky News quoted Mr. Hudgell as saying, “We need to see the report, we need to consider options.”
“However, it is evident that if the report is favorable and we move on with discussing exoneration and compensation, we will want a procedure that takes into account the aging population of individuals concerned, meaning it must be expeditious.
Capture, which replaced the problematic Horizon accounting software, was implemented in select branches starting in 1992.
Between 1999 and 2015, hundreds of sub-postmasters were falsely charged under Horizon.
An impartial inquiry into Capture was launched in the summer and is now complete.
The financial solutions and risk advisory firm Kroll handled it.
The Department for Business and Trade has now received the report.
Steve Marston, the former sub-postmaster, feels that “glitches” in the Capture program led to his wrongful conviction for stealing.
