On Sunday, the number of senators serving in the special parliamentary committee rose even higher.
Details indicate that Senate Chairman Syed Yousuf Raza Gilani submitted the names of over eight senators after proposing five senators for nomination. Nominees included the legislative leaders of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP), Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N), and other parties.
In accordance with the senators’ nominations for the parliamentary committee, the Senate secretariat had released a new notification.
Irfan Siddiqui, the parliamentary leader of the PML-N, proposed the candidate for the special parliamentary committee.
Sherry Rehman was selected by the PPP to the special parliamentary committee.
Rather than Umer Farooq, Aimal Wali Khan, the president of the Awami National Party (ANP), was proposed as a member of the parliamentary committee.
