Pakistan has advocated for increasing the presence of developing nations in international financial organizations in order to ensure global economic justice.
Speaking on the second and final day of the Summit of the Future, Defence Minister Khawaja Asif emphasized the necessity of reviewing the sovereign debt architecture to make it more equitable, adopting an equitable international tax regime, and reforming the World Trade Organization (WTO) to act as a platform for export growth and development by avoiding new environmental protectionism and providing developing nations with preferential treatment.
“The UN, by virtue of its universal membership and mandate, remains an indispensable platform to propel and monitor implementation of these commitments,” stated the defense minister.
