The Met Department reports that Karachi will likely see a substantial increase in temperature today, with a high of 39 degrees Celsius.
According to Chief Meteorologist Sardar Sarfraz, Karachi’s average temperature in October is 35.6 degrees Celsius; however, there is a chance that the temperature would rise by two to three degrees during this partial heatwave.
With the present temperature at 28 degrees Celsius, the Met Office has predicted hot and dry weather for the next 24 hours. The sea breezes that typically aid in regulating Karachi’s temperature are only partially present.
Not only is it hot outside, but the city’s air quality also suffering. Karachi is ranked the seventh most polluted city in the world and the second most polluted city in Pakistan, according to the Air Quality Index (AQI).
