LONDON: The United Nations Special Rapporteur on the Independence of Judges and Lawyers has received funding from businessman Aneel Mussarat to support Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) founder chairman Imran Khan’s appeal against the proposed constitutional modifications, which are expected to be presented in Parliament in the coming days.
PTI sources revealed to Geo News that, at the request of the PTI founder, who is currently detained in Adiala Jail, Imran’s sister Aleema Khan and his former housing advisor, Aneel Mussarat, agreed to involve the UN in the situation.
According to Doughty Street Chambers, it was following Imran’s family’s orders. Aleema asked Mussarat to enlist the support of the UK lawyers, according to the PTI source.
