According to Finance Minister Muhammad Aurangzeb on Sunday, the $7 billion loan arrangement with the International Monetary Fund would not have been feasible without “very generous and active support” from the Chinese government.
He said to Shaukat Piracha of Aaj News, “We remain extremely grateful for the discussion that I had at the personal level with the finance minister of China and the governor of PBOC.” On Rubaroo, his interview was broadcast.
Aurangzeb attended the event held by the Islamabad Chamber of Commerce in Islamabad.
In July, Pakistan and the IMF came to an agreement on a 37-month financing arrangement. According to the IMF, getting “timely confirmation of necessary financing assurances from Pakistan’s development and bilateral partners” and the executive board’s approval are prerequisites for the program.
