The Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam-Fazl (JUI-F) has ruled out making any changes to the Constitution without the Pakistan Tehkree-e-Insaf (PTI), despite the current confusion surrounding the narrative of the potential constitutional revisions being pushed by the ruling coalition.
Senator Kamran Murtaza of JUI-F stated on News’ “Capital Talk” show on Monday that the PTI cannot be disregarded and that the Constitution cannot be referred to as consensus-oriented without the support of the Imran Khan-founded party.
The lawmaker’s comments coincide with the government’s intense efforts to court the JUI-F in order to obtain the necessary votes in the parliament to approve the constitutional package that establishes a constitutional court and gives the Chief Justice of Pakistan (CJP) a fixed tenure of three years.
