ISLAMABAD: The Supreme Court said Tuesday that the newly established constitutional bench, established under the 26th Amendment, will begin hearing cases on November 14.
A three-member committee, established under Article 191A(4) of the Constitution, led by Justice Amin-ud-Din Khan, the leader of the seven-judge constitutional court, made the conclusion.
By a majority vote of seven to five on November 5, the Judicial Commission of Pakistan (JCP) named Justice Amin-ud-Din, who is the fourth most senior Supreme Court judge, as the head of the seven-judge constitutional bench. Chief Justice of Pakistan (CJP) Yahya Afridi was one of the members who dissented.
Justice Muhammad Ali Mazhar and Justice Jamal Khan Mandokhail attended today’s meeting.
