Hezbollah Support Continues as Violence Escalates
People living in southern Lebanon continue to support Hezbollah even as Israeli air strikes hit towns and villages across the region. Many residents say they feel abandoned and believe Hezbollah is the only force capable of protecting their communities from ongoing attacks by Israel.
A recent air strike in the town of Saksakiyeh caused heavy destruction and killed nine members of a displaced family. According to relatives, the victims included elderly family members, parents, children, and a two year old girl. The family had already fled their home because of earlier fighting and believed they had found safety in the area where they were staying.
Residents described scenes of devastation after the strike. Rescue workers searched through the rubble while neighbours recovered damaged belongings, including children’s toys and personal items buried under dust and debris. The attack added to growing fears among civilians who continue to live under constant bombardment.
Israeli Military Claims Hezbollah Presence
The Israeli military stated that the strike targeted Hezbollah members who were using the building for military purposes. Officials claimed the individuals posed an immediate threat. However, relatives of the victims rejected those claims and said innocent civilians lost their lives in the attack.
Israeli forces continue to carry out strikes across southern Lebanon despite the ceasefire announced last month. Many areas remain dangerous after sunset, and residents say drones and aircraft regularly operate in the skies throughout the night.
Southern Lebanon Faces Destruction and Displacement
Southern Lebanon remains the center of support for Hezbollah and the country’s Shia Muslim community. Several towns have suffered severe destruction during the conflict. Empty streets, damaged homes, and collapsed buildings now define many villages near the border.
Families who fled the fighting still hesitate to return because of ongoing attacks and security concerns. Some residents said years of conflict have left them exhausted, but they still believe Hezbollah plays a key role in defending the region against Israeli military operations.
The conflict has also deepened humanitarian challenges in the area. Thousands of people remain displaced, while damaged infrastructure has made daily life difficult for local communities struggling to recover from repeated violence.
Fear and Uncertainty Continue
Many civilians in southern Lebanon now live with constant uncertainty. Residents say they no longer know when or where the next strike may happen. The continued violence has increased tensions and weakened hopes that the ceasefire could restore peace to the region.
Despite the destruction, support for Hezbollah remains visible across many communities. People in the south continue to view the group as a symbol of resistance during one of the region’s most difficult periods in recent years.
