Three young friends were killed in a high-speed collision by a driver who was caught on camera consuming laughing gas while operating a motor vehicle. The driver was sentenced to prison.
In the village of Marcham, Oxfordshire, Thomas Johnson’s vehicle struck a tree at close to 100 mph, killing passengers Elliot Pullen, 17, Daniel Hancock, and Ethan Goddard, both of whom were 18.
Johnson, 19, pleaded guilty to three counts of causing death by dangerous driving and was sentenced to nine years and four months in prison at Oxford Crown Court.
Johnson was described as a “cocky teenage boy” who was flaunting himself by the relatives of the victims, who also advised others “not to be that driver who shows such disregard for their friends’ lives.”
