BOGOTA: According to the hospital treating him, Miguel Uribe, a Colombian senator and presidential candidate, passed away early Monday at the age of 39 after being wounded in the head during a campaign event two months ago.
Uribe, a member of a well-known political dynasty and a right-wing opposition congressman, was shot on June 7 in Bogota while attempting to earn his party’s candidacy for the 2026 elections.
Social media was used by his wife, Maria Claudia Tarazona, to announce his passing. “I ask God to show me the way to learn to live without you,” she stated in her letter. “Rest in peace, love of my life, I will take care of our children.”
