During their protest march against the Election Commission of India’s (ECI) office over “voter fraud” claims, Rahul Gandhi, the leader of the Indian Congress, and other opposition leaders were briefly arrested by New Delhi Police, according to Indian media.
In addition to Rahul and his sister Priyanka Gandhi Vadra, a number of opposition MPs were arrested by the New Delhi Police.
“The goal of this battle is to preserve the Constitution, not politics.” ‘One person, one vote,’ is the battleground.” Rahul was quoted by NDTV as saying this when the police moved him.
The lawmakers were transported to a local police station, according to Joint Commissioner of Police Deepak Purohit, who confirmed the incarceration of the opposition leaders.
