In the midst of a standoff between the government and the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) over “hindrance” in meeting with imprisoned former premier Imran Khan, the former ruling party has threatened to end the negotiations if a judicial commission for looking into the events of May 9, 2023, and November 26 is not established following the third round.
Sahibzada Hamid Raza, the head of the Sunni Ittehad Council (SIC) and a member of the PTI’s negotiation team, stated on the Geo News show “Aaj Shahzeb Khanzada Kay Sath” that a fourth round of talks is extremely improbable if the government rejects their demand for a judicial commission.
The coalition government and the beleaguered PTI eventually sat down to discuss ways to ease tensions last month after months of a political tug-of-war.
