ISLAMABAD: An English school for Afghans in Islamabad who are expecting to be resettled in the United States is experiencing shock and anxiety as a result of President Donald Trump’s administration’s decision to stop processing refugee visas.

According to Sayed Hasibullah, a 20-year-old teacher whose application for resettlement in the US is still pending, normally animated students were either silent or crying in class after the news emerged on Tuesday.

Many, notably those who escaped Taliban rule in Afghanistan, have already spent years in limbo and feel deceived.

“For us, it was truly a terrible moment. At the school in Islamabad, he told Reuters, “We have been waiting for almost three years and there is no hope anymore.”

Many people’s plans have been upset by the abrupt delay.
