The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) is taking all necessary steps to guarantee a transparent and equitable framework for the management of poll results, which are scheduled to be held on February 8 across the nation, as the general elections that are scheduled for that date become closer every day.
To prevent a recurrence of 2018, the electoral authority has created a mechanism for compiling results called the “Election Management System (EMS)”.
The upcoming polls, which are being hailed as one of the most important yet contentious in the nation due to the ongoing political and economic unrest, will take place more than five years after Pakistani voters used their right to choose their representatives in the national assembly during the previous general election.
However, the 2018 elections, like many previous polls, were clouded by controversy, especially those pertaining to the administration, collation, and dissemination of results, raising questions about the accuracy and transparency of the electoral body’s vote-counting procedures.
