One of the few pieces of legislation that truly makes sense is the recently passed Pakistan Land Port Authority Bill 2025. Even though it has taken Pakistan 23 years longer than Bangladesh and 13 years longer than India to recognize that order is the most important thing our borders need after security, it is consoling to know that such discipline will soon be observed. The lawmakers should be commended for that. It is anticipated that the law would also pass the Senate, making Pakistan the third nation in the region to have such a regulatory body. However, the state must make sure it is not creating another office that exists merely for the purpose of existing before taking any action.
