NEW YORK: Thousands of people are taking to the streets to protest US President Donald Trump’s hard-line policies, sparking a fresh wave of demonstrations in American cities.
Signs bearing the phrases “No Kings in America” and “Resist Tyranny” were displayed by protesters outside the city’s main library in New York.
“No ICE, no fear; immigrants are welcome here,” a reference to the Immigration and Customs Enforcement agency’s role in apprehending migrants, was chanted by many in protest of Trump’s deportations of undocumented migrants.
Protesters in Washington expressed worry that Trump was endangering long-standing constitutional principles, such as the right to due process.
