According to an Israeli official, the security cabinet of Israel has approved a plan to “capture” Gaza and keep its territory as part of an expanded military onslaught against Hamas.
Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu declared that the 2.1 million people living in Gaza “will be moved to protect it” and that the cabinet had agreed on a “forceful operation” to demolish Hamas and free its last hostages.
He emphasized that “they will not enter and come out” but did not specify how much area would be taken by the army.
A plan to ease a two-month embargo that the UN claims has resulted in catastrophic food shortages by delivering relief through private enterprises was also agreed to in principle by the cabinet.
