Ukraine’s anti-corruption agencies have discovered what they describe as a massive bribery scheme in the acquisition of drones and electronic warfare systems, leading to the arrest of an MP and other officials.
President Volodymyr Zelensky stated in a statement on X that a Ukrainian MP, district and city administration chiefs, and a number of National Guard officers had been exposed for their involvement in the signing of state contracts with vendors at up to 30% inflated rates.
“Zero tolerance” for corruption in Ukraine is possible, Zelensky stated, thanking the agencies for their efforts.
After widespread protests, Ukraine’s anti-corruption authorities regained their independence on Thursday.
