ISLAMABAD: At least 1.3 million Afghan refugees have been repatriated from Pakistan thus far, the National Assembly was told on Wednesday.
Parliamentary Secretary Mukhtar Ahmad Malik said that approximately 3 million Afghan refugees have been living in Pakistan in response to a query posed by MNA Anjum Aqeel Khan. Of these, 1.3 million have Proof of Registration (PoR) cards, and 813,000 have Afghan Citizen Cards (ACC).
He further emphasized that Afghan citizens are welcome to enter Pakistan under the One Document Regime for business, education, or medical care as long as they have the proper visa and all of their paperwork are up to date.
Talal Chaudhry, the state minister for interior, stated last month that Pakistan had given registered Afghan nationals until June 30.
