The temptation to look away can be overwhelming. The news cameramen, however, are unable to leave, and on Tuesday, one of them lost his life. We do not disclose the identities of our colleagues in Gaza for their protection.
Fortunately, our cameraman did not sustain any significant injuries. Dozens were killed and injured when Israeli bombs were dropped into the European Hospital’s parking lot in Khan Younis.
According to the Israelis, the Hamas chief was hiding in a command-and-control facility beneath the hospital. The army accused Hamas of “cynically and cruelly exploiting the civilian population in and around the hospital” and claimed to have carried out a “precise strike.” Such accusations are denied by Hamas.
