Despite being a huge smash, Avengers: Endgame only received one Oscar nomination for visual effects. Scarlett Johansson, who plays Black Widow in the series, criticized the Academy for this reason.
In an interview with Vanity Fair, she questioned, “How did this film not receive an Oscar nomination? It was an impossible movie that shouldn’t have worked, but it really works as a film — and it’s also one of the most successful films of all time.”
Scarlett discusses going back to the franchise after her character dies in Endgame in other parts of the conversation.
“It would be extremely difficult for me to comprehend what role [returning] would be appropriate for me, for the role that I portray,” she stated.
