ISLAMABAD: A spokesperson confirmed Thursday that the National Cyber Crime Investigation Agency (NCCIA) has filed a lawsuit against five people who are allegedly responsible for an online hate campaign that targeted Pakistan’s state institutions during the recent escalation in tensions between India and Pakistan.
The suspects are listed in the first information reports (FIRs) filed under cybercrime statutes, the NCCIA spokesperson said. During the recent cross-border tension, the individuals are accused of disseminating “false and provocative content” on social media.
According to the spokesperson, the suspects started a concerted effort to spread false information about the government, especially the military and high-ranking national authorities.
The agency spokesman stated, “The nominated individuals have been actively involved in promoting misleading propaganda against Pakistan’s state institutions.”
