The Indian government, led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, is reportedly planning to significantly increase its defense budget by an astounding 500 billion Indian rupees (INR) in response to a series of military losses and rising tensions with Pakistan.
According to media sources, the Indian government intends to raise military spending this year by introducing a supplemental budget linked to Operation Sindoor that will drastically increase defense spending.
This follows New Delhi’s 9% increase in the defense budget earlier this year, which indicated a clear change in strategic objectives in the face of persistent regional unrest.
