ISLAMABAD Sardar Muhammad Yousuf, the Federal Minister for Religious Affairs and Interfaith Harmony, stated on Friday that the remaining thousands of applicants under the private Haj plan will not be able to perform this year, according to The News.
The minister of religious affairs stated at a press briefing today that 25,698 of the almost 89,605 pilgrims who are scheduled to conduct the Haj will be able to do so this year. This indicates that Pakistan has given up 63,907 of its quota for the next Haj.
The minister stated that severe measures would be taken against those guilty and that the prime minister had already established a committee to look into why the entire quota could not be used.
