ISLAMABAD The Prevention of Electronic Crimes Act (Peca) (Amendment) Act 2025 has significant shortcomings, according to a report published by the Human Rights Commission of Pakistan (HRCP). The report urges that the law be completely repealed without allowing any coercive implementation of the law’s earlier versions from 2016 and 2023.
As part of an EU Pakistan-funded project, digital rights activist Farieha Aziz presented the research’s findings during an advocacy meeting in Islamabad on Thursday. The paper was produced under HRCP’s Legislation Watch Cell.
