As part of the Republican president’s drive to reorganize and reduce the size of the federal government, Donald Trump’s administration requested Monday that the US Supreme Court halt a court ruling that was preventing widespread layoffs and agency reorganizations, according to Reuters.
The Justice Department made the motion after US District Judge Susan Illston, who is headquartered in San Francisco, stopped widespread federal layoffs, or “reductions in force,” in a May 22 decision that supported a coalition of unions, non-profit organizations, and local governments that opposed the administration.
