To increase awareness of the pressing need to eradicate child marriage in Pakistan, the United Nations Children’s Fund (Unicef) started a video campaign that included Saba Qamar, its National Ambassador for Child Rights.
“I came across inspirational young activists like 14-year-old Anam Nazir, who prevented three marriages in her community [in Sujawal, Sindh],” Saba said. “I am honored to support this campaign on behalf of all the girls—and occasionally boys as well—who endure hidden hardships as a result of child marriage.”
During a video chat, the Unicef ambassador discussed the detrimental practice of child marriage, emphasizing how it affects young girls’ futures and urging coordinated action to safeguard children.
