According to health officials, a Palestinian doctor who lost children in an Israeli airstrike in Gaza on May 23 has passed away from wounds received in the same incident.
When their home in Khan Younis was hit, 40-year-old Dr. Hamdi al-Najjar had just returned from dropping his wife, Dr. Alaa al-Najjar, off at Nasser Hospital, where the two of them worked. Ten of their children suffered serious injuries, and nine of them died.
Despite receiving hospital treatment for internal and brain damage, Hamdi passed away on Saturday. The only members of the family still alive are Alaa and their 11-year-old son Adam, who is still in the hospital.
At the time, the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) stated that an investigation was underway into the event.
