KARACHI: According to The News, Pakistan is ranked 148th out of 148 nations in the World Economic Forum’s 2025 Global Gender Gap Report, which places it at the bottom of the list.
Pakistan had a gender parity score of 56.7% in the report, which was made public on Wednesday. This represents a 0.3 percentage point drop from its 2024 result.
Pakistan’s score, which peaked in 2023 at 57.7%, has now declined for the second time in a row. The Global Gender Gap Index evaluates gender equality in four areas: political empowerment, health and survival, educational attainment, and economic participation and opportunity.
Pakistan is ranked last, yet it has only dropped three spots from 145th place the previous year. Iceland continued to hold the top spot on the ranking.
