In a significant step for cricket’s longest format, the ICC has stated that it is willing to support four-day Test matches in the World Test Championship rather than the customary five-day schedule.
The Guardian said Monday that the adjustment will allow lesser teams to play more games and more matches in a series.
This comes days after South Africa ended their decades-long quest for a major international cricket trophy by defeating Australia by five wickets in the World Test Championship final at Lord’s.
They hadn’t won a trophy since 1998, when they took home the first-ever men’s Champions Trophy, then known as the Knockout Trophy.
