KARACHI: On Tuesday in Colombo, Sri Lanka, Pakistan defeated Tajikistan 2-1 in their Group A match in the Billie Jean King Cup Asia/Oceania Zone Group III.
Pakistan recovered well to win the match after suffering an early defeat in the first singles encounter.
Playing the opening singles rubber, Amna Ali Qayum led early in the match but was forced to retire due to an injury in the last set against Anisa Yakhyaeva of Tajikistan. Tajikistan led 1-0 after the final score of 6-1, 5-7, 0-1 (retired).
After winning the first set 6-1, Amna was leading the second set 5-3 when she was hurt. She chose to finish the match but pulled out in the third set.
