ISLAMABAD Early on Sunday morning, a small earthquake occurred in central Pakistan. The United States Geological Survey (USGS) reports that the tremor’s Richter scale value was 5.3.
On the other hand, a slightly larger magnitude of 5.5 was reported by the German Research Centre for Geosciences (GFZ).
The shallow earthquake did not immediately result in any reports of damage or deaths. According to the USGS, the epicentre of the earthquake was roughly 60 kilometers (37 miles) northeast of Barkhan, a city in Pakistan’s hilly Balochistan region, and it struck at around 3:30 am local time (2230 GMT).
On the other hand, the epicentre was located approximately 149 kilometers (92.5 miles) west of Multan, according to the Euro-Mediterranean Seismological Centre. The GFZ reported that the earthquake was only 10 kilometers (6.2 miles) deep.
