With the government missing the June 30, 2025 goal, Pakistan has once again fallen short of its self-imposed timeline for the rollout of 5G services.
The nation’s long-promised transition to next-generation mobile connectivity has been beset by delays, and this is the fourth missed date.
The government was unable to hold the Spectrum Advisory Committee meeting, which is a need for proceeding with the 5G auction process, despite numerous commitments, including from Federal IT Minister Shaza Fatima Khawaja.
Shaza Fatima blamed the delay on regulatory approvals and legal issues in an exclusive interview with TV. The long-overdue meeting has been asked to be called by the finance minister, who chairs the Spectrum Auction Committee, she said, particularly now that the federal budget process is over.
