Five top PTI leaders, who are presently facing many jail sentences, have demanded that the government engage in emergency talks in order to address the nation’s escalating political crisis.
PTI leaders Omar Sarfaraz Cheema, Dr. Yasmin Rashid, Mian Mahmoodur Rasheed, Ijaz Chaudhry, and Shah Mehmood Qureshi wrote an open letter from jail urging all parties to negotiate, stating that “dialogue is the only way out of the worst crisis.”
The letter states that leaders who have been detained should be involved in any dialogue process and emphasizes the importance of political-level negotiations. Although the PTI officials stressed that the government should be in charge of starting negotiations, they also demanded that any action must be discussed with Imran Khan, the party’s imprisoned founder.
