According to a statement, former Adm. Sir Ben Key’s actions “fell well short of the values and standards expected of service personnel.”
To this, Sir Ben replied, “I deeply regret my conduct in the spring of last year, which fell well below the standard I set for myself and that which I set for the Royal Navy.”
He went on to say that he was “very sorry to those I have hurt personally” and that he completely accepted the verdict.
Sir Ben concluded his remarks by expressing his gratitude for his wife, family, and friends’ support during what he called “a very difficult time.”
The 59-year-old Sir Ben was scheduled to leave his job this summer.
