The Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf-Parliamentarians (PTI-P), which was undoubtedly created yesterday, appears certain to secure enough seats in the general elections scheduled for February 8 to form a government in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP), the former stronghold of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) founded by Imran Khan.

After the events of May 9, 2023, the PTI’s chairman, Pervez Khattak, abandoned his longtime friend and leader, Imran Khan, saying he lacked the strength to put up with the intolerable. This led to the formation of the PTI-P, a split off party.

On July 23 of the previous year, he was elected as the PTI-P’s chair, and Mahmood Khan, the former chief minister, served as vice-chairman.

Former PTI members Khattak and Mahmood Khan had a close relationship with former prime minister Imran Khan.

The PTI and its leaders are in serious difficulty as a result of the violent protests on May 9, 2023. Several people had to leave the party due to the situation.

A number of PTI leaders were forced to announce their desire to leave politics or split from the party, in addition to denouncing the violent rallies at press conferences.

After Imran Khan was arrested on May 9, protesters launched a political party, with Khattak and Mahmood Khan among those who took the decision to do so. These attacks took place on army sites.

Khattak claimed he was promised a “bat” as an electoral emblem, but the Pakistani Election Commission gave him a “turban.”
