As severe flooding and rain-related accidents continue to cost lives and cause property damage, the death toll from Punjab’s terrible rains has increased to 63, bringing the total death toll above 190.
Dozens of people were still waiting for assistance and evacuation as rescue efforts continued in multiple districts on Friday.
While others were moved to safer regions, a trapped family in Mandi Bahauddin was saved from a violent flash flood. Due to flooding at District Jail Mandi Bahauddin, officials had to move prisoners to Hafizabad Jail. About 500 persons who were stuck in Jhelum because of floodwaters were successfully moved to safety.
As water levels in Sargodha rapidly increased, more than 40 communities close to the river’s banks were also evacuated. Low- and moderate-level floods in the meantime.
